AP and Dual Credit

Advanced Placement Courses

We are pleased to offer a variety of Advanced Placement (AP) courses through College Board, providing students with the opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school. Our comprehensive AP program allows students to take rigorous courses in various subjects and then take the corresponding AP exam in May. These exams are administered by a Legacy staff member off campus, ensuring a smooth and reliable testing experience. Exam results are typically available at the beginning of July, allowing students to use their scores for college applications or placement purposes. Please note that the cost of the exam is covered by the student.

Students must meet the requirements stated in the LCA honors contract to participate in AP courses.

  • AP Biology (alternating years)

  • AP Calculus A/B

  • AP Chemistry (alternating years)

  • AP Language and Composition (alternating years)

  • AP Literature and Composition (alternating years)

  • AP PreCalculus

Dual Credit Courses

Legacy has partnered with Lamar Institute of Technology (LIT) to offer a range of dual credit courses. These courses are conveniently available online and are taught by experienced LIT instructors. By enrolling in these courses, students not only earn college credit but also acquire high school credit.

To qualify for our Dual Credit Courses, students must meet specific score requirements on their PSAT, SAT, or TSI exams. These scores serve as an indication of the student's readiness for college-level coursework and ensure that participating students can fully engage and succeed in their chosen courses.

  • Juniors are allowed to take one dual credit course. Students will be assigned an on campus study hall class to work on this course.
