His background makes him a great fit for our Warrior family: • 15+ years of coaching experience, including youth programs and select baseball teams • Emphasizes building relationships, discipline, character development, and strong student-athlete performance • Values inclusivity, diversity, teamwork, and sportsmanship • Aims to motivate young men to adopt a faith-based approach to personal growth • Excited to be part of Legacy Christian community and lead football team to success • Deep appreciation for Legacy Christian Academy's rich history and legacy • Smith family has been part of Legacy for 7 years, with wife Kim volunteering and sons attending Details below: Coach Shannon Smith, a seasoned coach and mentor with over 15 years of coaching experience, has been named Head Varsity Football Coach at Legacy Christian Academy He holds a bachelor's degree in psychology that he received at Stephen F Austin State University. There he picked up the game one last time and was on the scout team for SFA with the defense and offensive sides. This, along with 15 years of experience working with youth from a variety of backgrounds, helps Coach Smith have a wealth of knowledge and experience to offer our young men. Throughout his career, he has held various coaching positions with youth programs, including West End little league divisions and Allstar coach. He has been President of West End little league for the last 3 years and coached select teams in baseball for the Gladiators. He also coached Legacy middle school football team last year. Coach Smith's passion for football and commitment to helping young men grow and develop is evident in his achievements. He places a strong emphasis on building relationships, instilling discipline through physical training, character development and focusing on being a strong student-athlete. He believes that emphasizing these characteristics is not just about preparation for games, but also about becoming Christ-like individuals. Coach Smith strives to glorify God through the love of the game and the team’s commitment to discipline. The team’s philosophy is rooted in faith, promoting teamwork and sportsmanship. He values inclusivity and diversity and sees it as a way for young men to understand and appreciate the unique talents of each individual while fostering mutual respect. Coach Smith has succeeded in overcoming obstacles and strengthening his faith through his dedication to personal growth. He aims to motivate young men to adopt a similar approach, relying on their faith, family, and coaches to cultivate strong character and effect positive change in their lives. Coach shared, “I am thrilled to be a member of the Legacy Christian community and I look forward to guiding the football team to success both on and off the field.” Coach Smith holds a deep appreciation for the rich history of Legacy Christian Academy. He recognizes the legacy of excellence that has become synonymous with Legacy Christian Academy football and is proud to be a part of such a program. The Smith family has been a vital part of Legacy for 7 years. Shannon's wife, Kim , can often be found serving as a substitute teacher on the elementary or secondary campus. She also volunteers across campus for events such as Christmas Market, Library Book Fair, and numerous teacher appreciation events. The Smith boys both started Kindergarten at Legacy and will be entering 7th and 3rd grade.
